Barrow 28 v Workington Town 28

Match Report:    Weather:    Overnight Frost, Fine Bright Day, Heavy Pitch

The Raiders started well and took the lead on 7 minutes when Ballard chipped to the corner and Dixon touched down, Holt  landed the conversion to give the Raiders a 6-0 lead. The game was evenly matched and on 20 minutes J. Stack scored for Workington with Forber adding the conversion to level the score. Barrow pressed again from the restart and on 23 minutes Dan Toal spotted a gap and went over for a great try. Holt added the conversion to make the score 12-6 to the Raiders. On 25 minutes  Workinton attacked and when Thackery kicked on  Stack won the race for the line and touched down. Forber scored the conversion to level the scores at 12-12.

On 30 minutes Barrow gave away a soft penalty and from the next play Workington took the lead for the first time through a try from Brett Phillips. The conversion was missed. Straight from the Re-Start Workington knocked on and Barrow took full advantage with Chris Larkin Scoring to level the scores at 16-16. The Conversion was missed by Holt. Brad Marwood was introduced  and on 38 minutes a great dummy and pass put Nixon away to Score in the corner. The conversion was missed making the score 20-16 for the Raiders. From the Re-Start  Barrow knocked  on but Workington failed to  take advantage before the hooter sounded for Half Time.

It was all change in the second half with the Raiders fielding a completely different team with the exception of James Nixon. The half started well when Kaighan intercepted and ran in from 60 Yards. Kaighan then failed to add the conversion to his try making the score 24-16. On 47 minutes Workington knocked on  in their own half and Barrow took full advantage scoring a well worked try through Andy Litherland. Kaighan failed to convert making the score 28-16 to The Raiders. Workinton Restarted with a short kick off and won possession, with Coward scoring on the last tackle. Forber added the conversion to make the score 28-22.  From this point the play became disjointed and on 72 minutes poor defending by The Raiders allowed Forber to break through and score. He converted his own try to level the score at 28-28. This proved to be the last score of the game although both sides had chances to win in the final minutes a Draw was probably a fair result.
