Dear Neighbour,

We would like to inform you of our upcoming Oktoberfest event which will be taking place on Saturday 16th October 2021.

The event will commence at 1pm and, subject to the conditions of our licence, will end at 10.30pm.

We also plan much smaller attended supporting days on Friday 15th October from 4pm to 10.30pm and Sunday 17th October 2pm to 9pm. Both these days will be lower key affairs and we will work with the local council to ensure that there is negligible noise, and the attendance numbers are limited.

Should you have any queries surrounding the event then please contact our Events Director, Jack Fawcett, on 07933177599.

Barrow Raiders are committed to providing entertainment and events to improve our town of Barrow-in-Furness, but we understand that this does not come at the expense of our neighbours’ wellbeing.

We will have a sound engineer on site with a mixing desk who will have overall control of the sound levels. We have some musical acts, but this will ensure that they cannot go above designated volume levels. Noise will be monitored and recorded with average decibel readings taken every hour during the event. We will take these readings at the nearest residential areas on the two sides of the ground where we have neighbouring properties: Clive Street and Nelson Street.

We expect this event to attract a broad range of age groups and is not specifically targeted at the younger adults. This is an opportunity to dress up and for the town to enjoy something different. That said we will have SIA security staff in place that will ensure that nobody enters who is intoxicated and ID checks will be taken at the entrance. Nobody will be served alcohol if we deem that they have had too much to drink, and we have zero tolerance to disorder.

We will only be using the entrance and exit by the retail park to ensure that there are no customers in the residential areas.

When leaving the event our security team will ensure that customers are quickly dispersed from the area, and we will inform local taxi companies that they may attract trade by being situated in the retail park. With the relatively early finish, compared to all the other establishments that are open, we expect our customers to naturally head to the town centre if they are not going home. We do not expect anyone wanting to loiter.

Our security staff will ensure that nobody leaves the venue with alcohol or any food containers to alleviate the risk of littering but in addition we will have a team checking the perimeter of the ground on the morning following the event. We will have bins at the exit and dotted around the venue and we will have a large skip to empty them should they become full.

We have many toilets throughout the ground but have recently purchased an additional toilet block and we will hire portaloos. The toilet block is situated at the exit.

We will work with the local council to ensure that this is a nuisance free event and inform the local police force.

In the interests of building a good relationship we offer you free tickets for the Saturday to enjoy the day. Simply give Jack Fawcett a call and he will ensure delivery of the tickets.

Yours sincerely

Steve Neale
