Barrow Raiders bounced back from Thursday’s agonising defeat to Leigh Centurions with a resounding eight-try victory over Widnes Vikings in the Betfred Championship.
Despite the visitors crossing first through winger Ryan Ince, the Raiders scored 44 unanswered points either side of half-time to maintain a three-point cushion over seventh-placed Sheffield Eagles in the league table.
Tee Ritson ended a run of four games without scoring with a superb double, while half-back Jarrod Sammut also grabbed two tries of his own.
There were further scores from Jarrad Stack, Ellis Gillam, Matty Costello and Dan Toal as Paul Crarey’s side turned on the style for the near-2,500 supporters inside the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
It was also a special day for Carl Forster, who made his 200th career appearance as the Raiders cemented an impressive league double over the Vikings following an impressive 34-24 victory on the road back in March.
Sunday’s result leaves the side full of confidence ahead of Sunday’s trip to Derwent Park to face Cumbrian rivals Workington Town.
