Barrow Raiders forward Jarrad Stack has signed a new one-year deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
Stack will enter his ninth year in Raiders colours, having made his debut back in 2017.
During his time at the Raiders, Stack led the club from Betfred League 1 to the Betfred Championship.
Formerly of Workington Town, who the Raiders host on the opening weekend of the new Championship season, Stack surpassed 350 career appearances last season and will go again in 2026.
On the new deal, Stack said: “Barrow Raiders have been a huge part of my life for a long time. It’s a family-oriented club, and the fans, Cresta and all the backroom staff have always been brilliant to me.
“I genuinely thought last year would be my final season, but after speaking with the club, we felt it was right for me to take a step back while still helping where I can.
“I’ve agreed to come on board on a pay-as-you-play basis, contributing experience and leadership and pulling the boots on when needed.
“I’m proud to continue supporting the club in a way that works for everyone.”
Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “Following on from the announcement of Ryan Johnston as our new club captain, it’s great news that our former captain Jarrad Stack has answered a request from the club to help out on the field when required for another season.
“Jarrad has kept himself in great shape and will be a great asset around training and playing when required.
“He is, without a doubt, a Barrow Raiders club legend, and it’s great to have him back in the group.”
Director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “It’s fantastic news to retain the services of Jarrad for another year.
“Jarrad has proven over the years how instrumental he is to this club, and at 37 years of age, has retained the same level of professionalism as he did when he first joined us.
“He is excited by what we are trying to do in 2026 and has kindly agreed to step in, as and when we require his services during the season.
“Jarrad is a top athlete and an even better person to have around the club, so maintaining his services in a pay-as-you-play capacity is something that works well for both parties.”
