Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey has praised his side’s effort as they fell to a defeat away to York RLFC Knights on Sunday.
Despite going into the half time interval at 10-10, a much improved Raiders performance was not enough to overcome the Knights on home soil.
The defeat means that the Raiders’ search for a first league victory continues.

“We got back into the game again, I think there was only eight points in it at one spell,” said Crarey on his team’s second half performance.
“We struggled off of the bench. We lost James Greenwood after 20 minutes and Danny Langtree after five minutes, so we only had one rotation through the middle for the remainder of the game. It was a difficult afternoon for our rotations.”
In spite of the difficulties facing his side, Crarey was proud of the effort they showed to get back into the game.
“I thought that there was a lot of effort there from the team. It’s the small details for us, and once we get that right, we’ll pick up a win.
“We’ve just got to keep knocking on the door, putting pressure on and staying in the grind.
“I thought York stayed in the grind, [they had] good line speed, they kept us trapped in our 10 metre zone a few times, so we can learn from other teams that we’ve got be hungry and disciplined.”

The Raiders are back at home next Sunday as they prepare to welcome Newcastle Thunder. Crarey insists that the first win will come sooner rather than later.
“We’ve just got to remain positive, get some small details [right], and I’m sure that win won’t be far away.
“I said to the boys after the game that I will take all the pressure – you just rock up next week and we’ll go again. If we get the minor details right, we’ll get that win.”
