Barrow Raiders produced an impressive display on the road, overcoming Swinton Lions 24-10 in Round 12 of the Betfred Championship.
The Raiders bounced back well from their most recent defeat at home to Halifax Panthers with an assured display at Heywood Road.
A mightily impressive first half began with a Ryan Johnston penalty goal which opened the scoring seven minutes in.
This was followed by the opening try of the game as Jacob Douglas opened up space down the left flank before passing inside to send Matt Costello over for his second try in as many matches.
The Raiders did further damage shortly before the half-time break, with James Greenwood and Harvey Makin scoring in quick succession – the latter charging over for his first of the season.
Johnston maintained his fine form with the boot to send the Raiders in 20-0 ahead at the break, and although the Lions rallied in the second 40, there would prove to be too great of a mountain to climb.
Jayden Hatton touched down moments after half-time to make it a 16-point ball game, but two further penalties from Johnston either side of the hour mark edged the Raiders further clear.
Mitch Cox scored for Swinton as the final hooter sounded, but it would be a mere consolation as the Raiders secured their first away league win of 2024, climbing up to 10th in the process.
Next up, a tricky assignment awaits the Raiders as unbeaten league leaders and 1895 Cup winners Wakefield Trinity visit the Northern Competitions Stadium, at the earlier time of 2pm on Sunday 30 June.
