The battle to reach Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup is on – and both semi-finals will be live on Our League on Sunday 8 May.
Five clubs from the Betfred Championship earned their places in the competition with outstanding performances in the Betfred Challenge Cup, both to reach the sixth round and then to challenge Super League opposition last weekend.
Following the draw, which was live on BBC Radio Cumbria yesterday morning, the inaugural AB Sundecks 1895 Cup winners Sheffield Eagles will play Whitehaven in a play-off to reach the semi-finals.
That game has now been confirmed for Featherstone’s Millennium Stadium on Saturday 9 April, kicking off at 2:00pm.
The winners will secure their place in the semi-finals, which will both be played on Sunday 8 May – and will both be shown live and free on the RFL’s Our League web and app.
First, Barrow Raiders host AB Sundecks 1895 Cup holders Featherstone Rovers at 2:00pm, followed at 4:00pm by Leigh Centurions against the winners of the Sheffield-Whitehaven play-off.
It means a feast of Rugby League action that weekend, as the 1895 Cup fixtures follow the Betfred Challenge Cup triple-header at Elland Road on Saturday 7 May – featuring both men’s semi-finals as well as the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final, with all three games live on BBC Sport.
And four teams will emerge from that weekend’s action with three weeks to prepare for Betfred Challenge Cup final day, also featuring the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 28 May.
