Barrow Raiders outside back Ryan Shaw says he is ready to kick on after overcoming a number of injury setbacks to record his 100th career try against York City Knights.

The 29-year-old crossed twice during yesterday’s 24-16 victory in the Betfred Championship to bring up the impressive milestone.

Shaw, who can operate at centre and on the wing, has now scored 24 tries in 56 appearances for the Raiders, having played for the club across three separate spells throughout his career.

Injuries have restricted Shaw to just nine appearances in 2022, but he says he wants to keep pushing himself further after making a much-anticipated return to full fitness.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said following Sunday’s victory. “I’ve been waiting quite some time to get to 100, so I’m happy with my performance.

“It’s been a tough time really, getting back from the injuries. I’ve come back a few times a bit too early, and my body just wasn’t ready to play, but I’m feeling great now and hopefully I can keep myself in the squad.

“With the squad we’ve got, we’re all fighting for position, which is good. This is why we’re beating top-four teams.”
