Barrow Raiders produced one of their best away performances of the season to thrash full-time Newcastle Thunder 62-10 in the Betfred Championship.
On a sensational afternoon at Kingston Park, there were nine different scorers in total, with Jake Carter and Tee Ritson both bagging doubles.
Despite falling behind to a converted Alex Donaghy try early on, Jarrod Sammut, Jake Carter and Jarrad Stack all crossed in the space of six minutes to give the Raiders a 16-6 lead before the midway point of the first half.
Half-back Ryan Johnston added to the lead, before Italy international Anton Iaria charged his way over following excellent work by Josh Wood.
Despite Thunder reducing the deficit before half-time as Donaghy added a second, it mattered little as Paul Crarey’s side ran in 34 unanswered second half points.
Forward Danny Langtree, who recently signed a new two-year deal with the club, bagged his first of the season, before Tee Ritson linked up with Matty Costello down the Raiders right before touching down.
He had his second soon after, and Shane Toal brought up the half-century after collecting a neat grubber with 10 minutes to play.
There was still time for Ryan Shaw to race over under the posts and Carter to round off the scoring with his second as the Raiders recovered from last weekend’s narrow defeat to Featherstone Rovers in some style.
