Barrow Raiders Ladies forward Nicole Stewart has been named in Scotland’s 23-woman squad ahead of their first-ever competitive international test.
John Whalley’s side will face Wales on Sunday 3 August.
Stewart, who has been a regular for the Raiders Ladies in the Betfred Women’s Super League this season, was named in Scotland’s initial 31-woman training squad earlier this year alongside club team-mate Imogen Smillie.
On her inclusion, Stewart said: “I was very happy to see that I was named in the squad to represent Scotland in their first-ever fixture against Wales, and I’m excited for the opportunity.”
Barrow Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson said: “When I heard Nicole was named in the Scotland squad, it filled me with real pride.
“She has worked extremely hard this season and come on leaps and bounds as a player, so having the chance to play her rugby internationally is something that she will be very excited for.
“I’m sure everyone at the club joins me in wishing her the best of luck next month.”
