Barrow Raiders returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 20-8 victory at Dewsbury Rams in Round 6 of the Betfred Championship.

For Paul Crarey’s side, it was the perfect response to a 22-6 defeat at Sheffield Eagles just over a fortnight ago which ended their unbeaten league start in 2026.

An ideal opening quarter saw the Raiders cross through Luke Cresswell and Curtis Teare, although Brad Walker failed to add the extras on both occasions to leave the Raiders eight points ahead.

But a lapse on the stroke of half-time saw Jacob Parkinson burrow his way over to reduce the arrears, leaving Dewsbury two points behind at the interval.

After a tight start to the second half, a penalty within kicking range allowed Bailey O’Connor to draw his side level, only for a Ryan Johnston penalty to nudge the Raiders back ahead inside five minutes.

As momentum grew in the Raiders’ favour, Tee Ritson barged his way over 15 minutes from time, and Johnston’s conversion took them more than a converted try ahead.

Then as the game wore on, victory was sealed as Shane Toal evaded some last-gasp defensive efforts to score on his first appearances of the season.

For the Raiders, attention now turns to a trip to the capital to face London Broncos at Richmond Athletic Ground on Sunday 15 March (3pm kick-off). Tickets are available to buy here.
