Head coach Paul Crarey has welcomed coaches to the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium for the last two weeks and next week sees local youngsters at the ground to begin their stint.

Paul said: “We’ve brought local coaches to the club to give them a taste of what we do. We’ve gone through some drills and ideas over the last two weeks and then the players will come on board with 11 to 15 year olds between 6pm & 7pm  and the under 16 & 17s following at 7pm until 8pm.

“We want the kids to get a flavour of what we do and how we work, take it back to their clubs and develop their game and produce the goods on the field for their local side. The aim is for them to enjoy the game, make progress and hopefully come back and play for Furness Raiders.

“Two players from recent years have turned professional with Rio Corkill at St Helens and Luke Broadbent who is at Warrington. Our relationship with the Barrow amateur clubs has never been better. We are all aiming to benefit the game of Rugby League, the local clubs and create a strong playing base which will hopefully benefit Barrow Raiders for those who good enough to ply their trade in the professional game.”
