Barrow Raiders Ladies have confirmed the signing of forward Fern Henderson ahead of the 2026 season.
Henderson, 31, was born, brought up and still resides in Barrow. She played rugby for Barrow Island Ladies 10 years ago, when injury put a halt to her playing career.
She also gained experience playing rugby union when she was at school, where she crossed paths with other current squad members.
Henderson, who is a senior project engineer and a mother, has previous experience as a forward and enjoys playing in the pack.
She admits that she likes being part of a team and supporting others, and is looking forward to the challenge of playing at elite level.
Barrow Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson said: “It’s great to bring in another local player. I’m looking forward to see what Fern can bring to the forward pack.”
