Barrow Raiders have brought in Leigh Leopards forward Ryan Brown on a season-long loan.

Brown has featured heavily for the Raiders over the last two seasons, initially on dual-registration from former club Wigan Warriors during the 2024 campaign.

Following a move to Leigh ahead of last season, Brown returned to the Raiders on loan alongside team-mate Kavan Rothwell. He went on to feature a further 22 times for the club in 2025, scoring his only try in a 58-0 win at Hunslet.

Brown, who featured on loan for Salford RLFC against Oldham in Round 1 of the Betfred Championship before representing Leigh in the Betfred Challenge Cup against North Wales Crusaders last weekend, will now make the move to the Northern Competitions Stadium as he seeks further game time.

“I’m really happy to be coming back to Barrow,” he said.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time on loan at the club over the last two years – the lads, the staff and the supporters have all been brilliant with me.

“It’s a very tight-knit group, and I’m excited to get back in and do my part for the team this season. I can’t wait to pull the shirt on again and get going.”

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “It’s great news for the club and our small playing roster to get Ryan Brown on loan from Leigh for the season.

“Ryan has impressed everyone at Leigh during pre-season and was in their 17 for the Challenge Cup victory over North Wales at the weekend.

“Leigh feel that loaning him to Barrow for the season will give him regular game time and further the improvement he has made since spending time with us last season.

“Ryan has a great future ahead of him, and we look forward to helping him become a Super League-ready player and helping us succeed along the way.”

Director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “We have enjoyed a positive relationship with Leigh for a number of years, and are therefore delighted that they have trusted us with the next stage of Ryan’s development.

“I firmly believe that Ryan has all the tools needed to make it all the way to the top, which is why we are delighted to add him to our squad for 2026.”
