Luke Cresswell is looking to make more memories with his Barrow Raiders team-mates as they kick off their 2022 Betfred Challenge Cup campaign this weekend.

The Raiders begin their latest adventure in the competition with a trip to League 1 Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 27 February, with kick-off at 3:00pm.

Paul Crarey’s side, unbeaten in the Betfred Championship so far this season, enter the Challenge Cup at the fourth round stage, whereas Rochdale Hornets have already had to battle past Midlands Hurricanes and amateur side Lock Lane to reach this point.

This year’s final will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, rather than its traditional home of Wembley, on Saturday 28 May at 3:00pm. It will form part of a double-header with the 1895 Cup final, which kicks off three hours earlier.

Cresswell admits the excitement of knock-out rugby makes it a thrilling watch for supporters, and insists his side want to go as far as they can in the competition.

“I’ve always had memorable games in the Challenge Cup,” he said. “There are so many high-scoring matches.

“It’s not as structured sometimes because players know they have to win, so it always calls for an exciting game. Hopefully we can get the win and earn a really good draw in the next round.

“As a rugby player, you cherish the memories of playing against those big teams.
