Jarrad Stack reflects on major career milestone

Barrow Raiders captain Jarrad Stack hopes there is plenty more to come on a personal level after passing 300 career appearances in the UK.

Stack reached the landmark appearance during the Raiders’ 23-14 defeat to Widnes Vikings in the Betfred Championship before the mid-season break.

That was his 129th appearance for the club. He previously made 171 appearances for fellow Cumbria side Workington Town, having initially joined them back in 2009 before linking up with the Raiders in 2017.

The 35-year-old, who made his competitive Raiders debut in a 46-18 victory over Rochdale Mayfield five seasons ago, says he feels in good enough condition to keep on playing for the town he calls home.

“I’ve stayed pretty loyal to Cumbria- it’s my home now,” he said.

“It’s a good milestone to get. Hopefully there’s still a few more games to go, and let’s see where I can get to next!

“My body’s alright. Obviously I’ve had a few surgeries, but it’s not feeling too bad after all those games.”

Due to being knocked out of the Betfred Challenge Cup by Halifax Panthers at the beginning of April, the Raiders have enjoyed two free weekends ahead of their return to action.

The Raiders will take on Bradford Bulls at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium next Sunday, and Stack hopes the rest will allow them to hit the ground running on their return to Betfred Championship action.

“It [the mid-season break] gave all the boys a bit of a rest, and work on a few things that we need to,” the second-rower added.

“Hopefully we can get back onto a winning streak, and we’ll be alright.”
