Barrow Raiders’ forward Razor Silva believes his side need to stick together, support each other and believe in the end objective if they want to achieve success in the Betfred Championship this season.

Paul Crarey’s side were convincingly beaten by an in-form York Knights last Sunday, losing 54-12 at the LNER Community Stadium.

A fourth loss in five leaves the Raiders second-bottom on points difference, with themselves, Swinton Lions, Halifax Panthers and Whitehaven all locked together on 10 points.

The young forward admits the division can be ruthless at times, saying: “When one team is firing on all cylinders and the other isn’t quite at their best, the outcome can be quite unfortunate.

“It’s a tough league, and performances can vary widely from week to week. It definitely highlights the competitive nature of the division.”

This season is Silva’s first as a starting prop, having spent the past two seasons restricted to a bit-part role for the likes of Widnes Vikings, North West Crusaders, Toulouse Olympique and London Broncos, after being sent out on loan by then-parent club Wigan Warriors.

On a personal level, the Brazilian admits he has enjoyed the added game time responsibility.

“It’s been fantastic to be playing regularly at this level. I’ve really enjoyed stepping up and taking more responsibility.

“It’s a great group, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute.”

The race for the play-offs in the division still remains tight, with four points separating the Raiders from Featherstone Rovers in sixth.

This weekend, the Raiders travel to the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium to face Batley Bulldogs – another side who find themselves in the chasing pack.

Barrow were victorious in the reverse fixture at the Northern Competitions Stadium, winning 24-14. Silva scored his first try for the club in that victory, and he believes that now is the time for the Raiders to start developing some consistency in their results.

The 22-year-old added: “Consistency is key in this league, and it requires everyone to remain united and committed to our objectives.

“Cresta [Paul Crarey] has emphasised the importance of sticking to our game plan. We believe in our approach, and it’s crucial for the team to stay positive and support each other through the ups and downs.”
