Dan Toal discusses Raiders memories

Having recently been awarded a testimonial by the RFL for his services to rugby league, we caught up with Barrow Raiders forward Dan Toal to discuss his memories with the club so far.

Toal, who will enter his 12th season with the Raiders in 2023, has made over 200 appearances to date.

A number of events will mark Toal’s testimonial this year, and you can keep up to date with all the latest information by visiting their Facebook Page.

Dan, you’ve been at the Raiders for over a decade now. Which moments stand out from your time so far?

In my time there’s been plenty of highs and lows, a few promotions and relegations.

Last year was great, and finishing fourth in the Championship was the highest since I joined the club.

Winning the league the year before was also great, but the one moment that stands out for me was winning the League 1 cup back in 2017.

The way we came back to win it in the last 20 minutes when it looked like we were going to lose was fantastic.

It must feel really exciting to have your testimonial in such a big year for the club as they look to make the play-offs again?

There’s a really good feeling down the club at the moment.

Last year, we felt like we had a chance going into any match, and the challenge going into this year has to be to make the play-offs again.

We’ve lost some big players but signed some big players too, so it’s exciting. I’m obviously just gutted I’m going to be out injured until the back end of the season, but I’ll be supporting the boys wherever possible.
