Barrow Raiders winger Shane Toal says he’s looking forward to the second half of the Betfred League 1 season.
The Scotland international this week signed a new three-year deal with the club that will take him to 10 years with the Raiders.
Paul Crarey’s side currently sit at the top of the League 1 table with a record of eight wins, one draw and one loss, and will look to bounce back from the defeat away to Keighley this weekend as we host Coventry Bears at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
“It’s been a good first half of the season for us and apart from suffering our first loss away at Keighley, we can’t argue with our position after ten games,” said Toal.
“The week off has given us a good chance for a rest and to right the wrongs from our last game and hopefully get us ready to start the second half of the season off well.
“Coventry definitely can’t be taken lightly, our last game against them was nip and tuck until we scored two tries near the end of the game. They’ve just come off the back of two good wins against Hunslet and Keighley so it will be a tough game.
“We had a good video review on our last performance so we know what we did wrong and have been working on that in training, this should help us try to bounce back.”
The club has recently seen its crowd numbers grow, including more than 3,000 in attendance at the home clash against Workington.
“It’s been great to start playing in front of crowds again after a lot of time without them,” added Toal.
“The club are doing a good job in offering free tickets and different initiatives to get decent crowds through the gates and there’s nothing better than playing at home in front of them.”
