Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation are about to deliver a four week, 16 day programme of activities for children aged 5 – 14 years old, thanks to Government funding secured by Marcus Rashford and Cumbria County Council.
As well as rugby skills activities, the coaching staff have been working hard to plan a variety of activities, including dodgeball, netball, football, rounders, kwik cricket, capture the flag, scavenger hunt, boules, orienteering, archery and much more.

All in all, we have a busy summer, and not forgetting our match day festivals, with a very special date to put in the diary – a Walking Rugby festival on Saturday 28th August, taking place at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium between 11am and 1pm.
Advantage! also recently hosted a ‘Day of Sport’ for St George’s primary school.
On Thursday July 8, St George’s drove up to the gates at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium with a minibus full of excitable Year 1 students. This was the first of three groups to occupy the pitch at the stadium, enjoying a variety of rugby skills and fun games, including tag, catching and kicking challenges mini games such as catching tennis.
Year 3 and 4 came along during the afternoon, still full of energy, and were able to show off to coaches Callum Bustin and Ruth Parker, their grubber and punt kicks, catching a high ball, and evasion skills with a dodgeball game.
The ‘Day of Sport’, organised by Mr Herbert, Head Teacher at St George’s, also involved other year groups being transported to the football stadium and local cricket pitch.
