Barrow Raiders Ladies’ initial fixture list for the 2026 season has been confirmed.
Amanda Wilkinson’s side will start the season with the group stages of the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup, having been paired with York Valkyrie.
Following Salford Red Devils’ demise, they dropped out of the competition. No-one of suitable standard took the invitation to replace them, meaning the Raiders Ladies will remain in a group of two and will automatically qualify for the quarter-finals, regardless of the outcome of the fixture against York.
The cup tie will take place on Saturday 11 April (2pm kick-off) at the LNER Community Stadium, with the winners earning home advantage in the quarter-finals, which will be held on Saturday 25 April.
For Barrow, the Betfred Women’s Super League season will begin with a home game against last year’s beaten Grand Finalists St Helens on Sunday 17 May.
Seven days later, the side who defeated the Saints to become just the third BWSL side to complete the treble, Wigan Warriors, will also visit the Northern Competitions Stadium.
For 2026, the Women’s Super League will operate a split-season format with teams facing each other once – home or away – in a single round of fixtures.
Following the regular season, teams will split into the top and bottom four teams, playing each other home and away in an extended play-off series.
The winners of the extended play-offs will be crowned League Leaders and earn a place in the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final, whilst the teams in second and third will play each other for the remaining spot.
The team finishing the season in eighth position will face the winners of the National Championship with the winner earning a spot in Super League for 2027.
