The Challenge Cup fifth round clash between Barrow Raiders and Cumbrian rivals Workington Town has been chosen for live coverage on BBC Sport.

The tie, which is a repeat of the 1955 Final at Wembley, will kick off at 1:00pm on Sunday 13 March.

The Raiders beat Workington Town 21-12 in 1955 to win the Challenge Cup for the only time in their history, captained by the great Willie Horne.

Workington had become the first Cumbrian club to win the Challenge Cup three years earlier, beating Featherstone Rovers 18-10 under the leadership of their inspirational full-back and captain Gus Risman.

They made a third Wembley appearance in 1958, losing 13-9 to Wigan.

On the news, Barrow Raiders chairman Steve Neale said: “It was the perfect draw for the club. A home, competitive tie against our Cumbrian friends who are sure to bring a large following, and the realistic opportunity for both clubs of progression in front of a bumper crowd.

“The prospect of Super League opposition in the next round and potentially being only one step from Tottenham through the 1895 Cup route has filled the club with excitement.

“Cup runs like this are what motivated me to get involved with the club in the first place, and we want to make memories for everyone connected to the club. A trip to the final is most definitely on our bucket list.”

BBC Sport have again covered a tie from each round of the competition, starting with the first round tie between Orrell St James and the British Army in January, and moving on to matches at Rochdale, Hunslet and Batley.

Round 5 is the last before the Betfred Super League clubs join the competition at the sixth round stage later this month.

Coverage of the Barrow-Workington tie will be live on BBC iPlayer, Red Button and the BBC Sport website and app.
