Versatile Barrow Raiders half-back Brad Walker has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The 27-year-old first joined the club ahead of the 2024 season.

So far, he has made 54 appearances in Raiders colours, scoring nine tries and adding a further 128 points with the boot.

Coming through the Widnes Vikings academy ranks, Walker went on to feature for Wakefield Trinity and Keighley Cougars before securing a move to his hometown club.

The majority of Walker’s appearances have come in the halves, although he has also operated effectively as a loose forward when called upon.

“I’m over the moon to be staying for another two years,” he said.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here. It’s a real family club and I’ve felt right at home. I get to play with my best mates and my family lives just around the corner from the ground, so it’s a big thing for me to put on a Barrow Raiders shirt.

“This year has been a bit up and down, both personally and as a team. I want to get back to playing my best rugby, and I know that my best years are still ahead of me.

“The main goal next year is to aim for that consistency which can really help us replicate the Barrow teams of old, challenging at the top of the division.

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “It’s fantastic to see so many of last season’s squad committing to the team for next year and beyond.

“Brad has done an excellent job playing in the halves and also loose forward. He tops the try assist charts and has a great kicking game too.

“Brad has lots of improvement to come, and I’m sure he can be a massive force in this division.”

Director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “Bringing Brad back to the club two years ago was an excellent move, and he has gone on to repay the faith put in him.

“We all knew the strengths Brad brought to the table before welcoming him back to his hometown club, and I’m sure he’s determined to make the next couple of years a real success.”
