Barrow Raiders centre Curtis Teare has signed a two-year contract extension which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Teare joined the Raiders ahead of the 2025 season from fellow Cumbrian side Whitehaven.

He was one of two Haven players to make the move last winter alongside Ryan King, who also agreed a new two-year deal with the club last month.

Teare made 23 appearances and scored 11 tries during his first season at the Raiders.

He also celebrated a career milestone during the club’s final game of the Betfred Championship season, with last Sunday’s appearance against Sheffield Eagles marking his 100th in the professional game.

Quickly establishing himself as a mainstay in the Raiders’ starting line-up, Teare has now committed his long-term future to the club.

“I feel the season went well for me personally and as a team,” he said.

“The coaching staff and the group as a whole convinced me that we can kick on next year and challenge higher in the division, and I’m excited to play a part in that.”

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “Curtis has been a great asset to us this year.

“An explosive centre with size and pace, it’s great news that he has signed a new contract for next season.

“We all feel Curtis has improved this year but has so much more in him, both as a try scorer and provider. His defence is rock solid and we feel he can only get better.

“We look forward to seeing him once again next season in Barrow colours.”

Director of rugby Andy Gaffney: “Having Curtis commit himself to this club for the next two seasons is a major piece of business.

“His first season in Barrow Raiders colours has been an excellent one, and we are sure there’s plenty more to come from him.

“To achieve next season’s goals, we need to build on the positives from the 2025 season. Curtis has proven himself to be one of them, and I’m delighted that he has agreed to stay.”
