Ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Challenge Cup second round showdown, we’ve decided to revisit the one and only time that we played Crosfields in the competition.
Their current chairman Mike Donnison played in the game, which took place on 26 February 1966.
Barrow won 11-2 after leading 8-2 at half-time, thanks to tries from Bill Burgess (2) and Bob Weir, with a goal from Henry Delooze. Crosfields’ response came via a goal from Rutter.
The game was played in a swamp, with some terrible weather that winter.
In the next round, Barrow lost 23-15 at Dewsbury.
