Barrow Raiders back-rower Ellis Robson insists victories against the best sides in the Betfred Championship will mean little if they cannot back up their performances.
The Raiders were impressive winners against Bradford Bulls last weekend, running out 24-22 winners thanks to Joe Bullock’s late try.
Paul Crarey’s side will go in search of another two points this Sunday at Featherstone Rovers, and speaking ahead of the Round 16 clash, Robson insists they must back up their “massive win” against the Bulls.
He added: “Bradford are a top team with top players, and for us to beat them twice this year shows us that we can mix it with the best.
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves though. There is a lot to work on from last week’s game, and it means nothing if we don’t keep backing it up throughout the rest of the season.
“Featherstone are always in-and-around the top six and that is where we want to be, so it will be good to see how we react after they beat us at our place.
“I think I speak for all the lads when I say we want to stay in that top six, come the end of the year. We know it will be a tough challenge, but we are definitely up for it.”
The Raiders’ next outing sees them travel to West Yorkshire to face a Featherstone side hoping to break into the play-off spots.
According to Robson, June’s Barrow Raiders Player of the Month, the squad will need to continue embracing the ‘Road Dog’ mentality stressed by Paul Crarey if they want to pick up another positive result.
“We’ve been focusing on getting wins away from home this year and ‘Road Dogs’ has stuck well,” he said.
“Featherstone is known as one of the toughest away days in rugby league, so we will have to be at our best again this week.
“With recent results and performances, we can go there with confidence to get the two points.”
