We are excited to confirm that Barrow Raiders’ home double-header against Featherstone Rovers on Sunday 26 May will be recognising the heritage and history of the club.
We are inviting every single player, coach or board member who has ever represented the club to come along, free of charge.
When we say every player, we mean every player! Even if you have just helped the club with a couple of A-team appearances, you are part of our history.
Eligible players include people from the men’s first team, A-team, Colts, academy and Furness Raiders, women’s first team and reserves, and our LD Super League team.
The fixture on 26 May will form part of a double-header with Barrow Raiders Ladies, who will face Featherstone’s women in the Betfred Women’s Super League at midday before the men take to the field at 3pm.
We would particularly like to encourage members of the 1983/84 season to attend to commemorate 40 years since the Lancashire Cup and 2nd Division title double and, with the fixture being against Featherstone Rovers, surviving members of our 1967 Wembley finalists.
We are offering free entry to everyone from our past, so please spread the word for the era you may have played.
Join the guestlist, and against your name, put the decade you represented the club. It will be great for our supporters to get an idea of attendees, and we already have commitment from 12 of our Lancashire Cup-winning team.
We have also asked the RFL to borrow the Lancashire Cup (1983/84), 2nd Division Championship trophy (1983/84 &1975/76), Championship Trophy (2009), League 1 trophy (2003 and 2021) and the League 1 cup (2017) and it we hope that all invitees can do a half-time lap of honour and parade the silverware.
