Barrow Raiders second-rower James Greenwood has penned a new one-year deal, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2025 season.
Greenwood enjoyed a successful first full season at the Northern Competitions Stadium in 2024, making 21 starts and a further appearance from the bench.
He scored five tries in that time, one of which came during his final appearance of the season at home to Cumbrian neighbours Whitehaven, in a 34-14 win last month.
The 2024 campaign saw the 33-year-old make more appearances in a single season than he has managed since 2018, when he lined up 30 times for Hull KR.

“I’m really pleased to have signed an additional year with Barrow,” he said.
“I enjoyed my first year and was keen to extend my stay, and hopefully I can contribute to the team progressing this season into play-off challengers, which is where we want to be.
“We’ve got a great setup, with great players and some good recruitment. I’m hoping my experience in Super League will add some value to the squad too.
“In truth, it was a pretty easy decision to make. The coaches and backroom staff last year were fantastic, and the fans at Barrow are loyal and always show up.
“They made me feel very welcome during my first season, and I wanted to repay that by remaining at the club for the next 12 months.”

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “This is excellent news on the retention front. James really enjoyed his time here last season and feels he has much more to give.
“It also underlines our desire to help make the team stronger for next year, and I know James is really looking forward to playing a leadership role within the group.”
Director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “Keeping someone like James at the club for next season was imperative for us, given his wealth of experience at the top level.
“We are happy we were able to keep him fit and get the best out of him last season, and everyone at the club looks forward to seeing what he can do in 2025.”
