Barrow Raiders Ladies have signed talented forward Megan Mayhew-Beach from Workington Town.
The 33-year-old joins with immediate effect and will be available for the club’s remaining fixtures this season.
Mayhew-Beach has played her rugby at Workington for the past two seasons and was part of their treble-winning squad last year.
Back in April, she was also named in a 31-player Scotland training squad which also included new Barrow Ladies team-mates Imogen Smillie and Nicole Stewart.
“I’m delighted to be joining the club,” she said.
“Chance and opportunity have brought me to Barrow, and I hope to continue developing my game at this fantastic club.
“Everyone who knows me knows I’m a proud Cumbrian, and now I’m extremely proud to play for a Cumbrian team in the Women’s Super League.
“I’m looking forward to testing myself against England internationals and top quality players. Hopefully I can continue to improve as a player under the guidance of Amanda Wilkinson and her team.”
“It’s great to have another player from Cumbria on board,” Barrow Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson said.
“Megan has impressed me in a few sessions and her signing will boost the squad.
“Her arrival is very much welcome at this stage of the season, given the number of injuries we currently have. Space has become available in the squad, which has presented a great opportunity for Megan to show us exactly what she can do.”
