A fitting 150 people attended Barrow Raiders’ 150th anniversary celebratory dinner in the MKM Marquee on Saturday evening (28 June).
The event was run in partnership with the Blue & White Knights.
In attendance were Mike Latham (chairman of Leigh Leopards), sponsors, backroom staff, supporters and a number of ex players, including:
- Shaun Morrow
- Pat Trainor
- Steve Rea
- Chris Honey
- Phil Atkinson
- Steve Ashcroft
- Andy Ruane
- Bob Eccles
- Graeme Petcher
- Stuart Rhodes
Chairman Steve Neale opened proceedings with a brief history of the club. A video compilation of the club’s 150 years was also played across TV screens.
Former players Bob Eccles, Chris Honey and Andy Ruane addressed the audience, reminiscing on their time at the club.
Raiders head coach Paul Crarey also spoke of his pride being both a player and coach at the club, and the togetherness and spirit that was apparent throughout the years.
The meal was followed by an auction, conducted by Ben Cresswell (brother of Luke). Various items of rugby memorabilia were up for grabs and Charnley’s Home and Garden provided a breakfast with Tee Ritson, which raised £500 on it’s own.
Vocalist Beth Horan provided the night’s entertainment.
