A special exhibition showcasing the female pioneers of international rugby league will be visiting the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium later this month!
‘Life with the Lionesses: The Exhibition’ will be visiting Barrow on Sunday 23 April, coinciding with Barrow Raiders Ladies’ opening Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup group stage game York Valkyrie.
The exhibition showcases the women pioneers of international rugby league: the fearless Lionesses, the last British team to bring the Ashes home from Australia in 1996 – the beginning of an international calendar which rivalled their male counterparts both home and abroad.
It follows the journey of these ground-breaking women, both on and off the field, bringing their stories and experiences to life, from fundraising their own tour to playing on an equal stage with their male counterparts in this year’s World Cup.
Hearing from the women themselves, this ground-breaking exhibition sheds a light on this hidden history, and looks at how far these inspirational women have come.
The exhibition will take place at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium from noon onwards and will be free to attend, with no booking required.
Following the match, there will also be a special St.George’s Day celebration in the Raiders Marquee, sponsored by Barrow Eats.
Barrow Ladies tickets will cost £5 for all league and cup games, unless stated otherwise. These will be pay-on-the-gate only.
