Barrow Raiders would like to publicly issue a heartfelt thank you to valued club sponsors Furness Building Society.
Furness Building Society was established in 1865, and originally began by playing a vital role for those in what is now South Cumbria and the Furness peninsula by helping them buy their own homes and providing a safe place for their savings.
They have been valued commercial and community partners of the club for a number of years, investing in many on and off-field activities to support the wider growth of the Raiders.
In 2023, they extended their work with the Raiders by becoming digital highlights sponsors, featuring heavily across the club’s video output.
We spoke with head of customer strategy Jonathan Cartlidge to learn more about their ongoing work with the club and what it means to be supporting the wider Barrow community.
Tell us a little bit more about Furness Building Society
Furness is a mutual building society set up for mutual good. In 1865 we opened our doors to empower people in Cumbria to come together and invest in each other – as a community, for the community.

What does it mean to you as an organisation to be supporting Barrow Raiders and the community as a whole?
Together we’re stronger, which is why giving back to our community is extremely important to us.
Local people are at the heart of every decision we make and our teams are very active in our local areas, carrying out fundraising, donating to food banks, volunteering and providing sponsorships.
How important is it to you as an organisation to be working alongside a club like Barrow Raiders?
The club plays a huge part in fostering Barrow’s strong community spirit, while its charity arm delivers an invaluable programme of sport and wellbeing to those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
At Furness, we believe that by working together as a community, we will all grow and thrive. That’s why we continue to invest in organisations like Barrow Raiders and contribute to the place we’re proud to call our home.
