Advantage! welcomes Charlotte Gibson as Assistant Foundation Manager and Isaac Prosser as Community Coach to our team and we are delighted to have such talented and energetic staff.

They will will make a brilliant impact and we are sure they will become extremely popular members of the team.

We have been very busy over the summer running a children’s multi sports camp as well as our usual activities in the community which are well supported and very popular.

We estimate that the camp had an attendance of 320 youngsters who also received nutritious hot food from the Bob In cafe and Bram Longstaff Day Nursery.

Anyone attending Raiders home games will have noticed the number of children and their parents in the crowd.

Many of these young families attend our multi sport festivals before home games at the Matt Johnson Prestige stadium . They start at 9.30 am and involve, of course, mini rugby, but also a plethora of other sporting health and fitness activities, which include athletics, multi games and dancing. Look out for them next season and come along.

I know many families already do and make a day of it staying for the first team match after watching Barrow Ladies and enjoying the refreshments, generally of the liquid variety for mum and dad, and celebrating another brilliant Raiders win.

Well done to Paul Crarey and his coaching team and, of course, the players on becoming, we are sure, champions after a hard fought season!

Callum Bustin made a brilliant contribution to the Raiders Championship season and he has been a fantastic member of our Advantage! Community coaching team and now we wish him a sad farewell. Anyone who knows Callum would describe him as one of nature’s gentleman and his calm, assured and approachable manner has earned him friends amongst all those involved with, and engaged, with the Advantage! programme.

All his colleagues are sad to see Callum leave us to join Rotherham but, such is the life of a professional rugby player, and we are proud and pleased that Callum has enjoyed his time at the Raiders and his very successful involvement as an Advantage! coach.

His work, along with his colleague Tee Ritson, on Raider Braves which introduces young boys to rugby league at the Matt Johnson stadium and develops their skills during weekly sessions, has been particularly noteworthy.

Rotherham’s gain is Barrow’s loss and we hope to take our walking rugby team, Silver Raiders, to play a Rotherham team. Old friendships may well be forgotten in the heat of the battle, but resumed afterwards!

All the best Callum from Siona, Denis and all the Advantage! team. It would be great to see you back at Barrow sometime in the future.
