Barrow Raiders utility back Hakim Miloudi says he is excited to take to the field this weekend in pre-season action against fellow Betfred Championship side Newcastle Thunder.

The Raiders began pre-season with a 24-12 victory over Workington Town, but were without a number of first team regulars.

Against Cumbrian opposition, head coach Paul Crarey was only able to name one orthodox playmaker in Ryan Johnston, with Miloudi partnering him in the halves last weekend.

The France international crossed the whitewash at the Matt Johnson Prestidge Stadium, and is hoping to enjoy similar fortunes this Sunday.

Furthermore, he is excited for the return of a number of the squad, with recent signing Jarrod Sammut in line to make his debut for the club.

Speaking ahead of the match, Miloudi said: “I can’t wait to play again. We’re just happy to all be back together.

“Hopefully Josh Wood, Jarrod Sammut, [Jarrad] Stack and [Nathan] Mossop] will be back. I’m hoping we can have a good, strong team this weekend.

Miloudi also admits he enjoyed the opportunity to play in the halves last weekend, and is willing and ready to step into the role again, if required.

“I’ve played half-back, full-back too, and I like it because you touch the ball a lot,” he added.

“The ball needs to go through you. I know sometimes I try to produce too much magic!

“I think I [played the position] well [against Workington Town]. I need to do some things better, but I really like it.”
