It promises to be a hugely exciting weekend in the race for a Betfred Championship play-off spot as Barrow Raiders visit Sheffield Eagles.

The match will take place at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on Sunday 17 July, at the slightly earlier time of 2:00pm.

Thanks to impressive back-to-back wins over York City Knights and Whitehaven, Paul Crarey’s Raiders now hold a five-point cushion over the chasing pack in the hunt for play-off rugby.

And with both sides pushing for a place in the top six, it could be an 80 minutes of real magnitude as we approach the business end of the 2022 season.

An impressive start to the 2022 campaign saw Sheffield win five of their opening seven Championship fixtures, although one of their early defeats came at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium in Round 1.

However, they come into Sunday’s clash in a bit of rut, having lost their last four matches in a row.

Their most recent loss came at home to fellow promotion hopefuls Batley Bulldogs last Friday. A see-saw battle saw the visitors run out 20-18 winners to climb to fourth in the division, with a game in hand on third-placed Halifax Panthers.

The Eagles have a wealth of talent across the park, with Super League experience in their ranks, and they will undoubtedly be out to make amends on home soil.
