Barrow Raiders’ memorable return to the Betfred Championship came to an end after an 18-8 defeat to Batley Bulldogs in the first week of the play-offs.
In front of a packed house of over 3,500 at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium, the Raiders gave their all but were unable to come out on top as the Bulldogs set up a semi-final clash with Featherstone Rovers next Sunday.
It took until the 36th minute for the deadlock to be broken as Ryan Shaw slotted over a penalty goal.
However, the visitors crossed for the first try of the contest on the stroke of half-time, with winger Jonny Campbell touching down in the corner.
Ten minutes after the break, Alistair Leak crashed over to extend the visitors’ lead.
Ellis Gillam brought the Raiders back into the contest after powering home from close range, but Leak grabbed his second of the afternoon six minutes later to see the Bulldogs home.
