Barrow Raiders suffered their first defeat of the Betfred Championship season after a disappointing 30-18 loss to Batley Bulldogs.
The visitors raced into an 18-0 lead inside the first half-hour, before the Raiders were reduced to 12 men after centre Hakim Miloudi received a red card.
Ryan Shaw’s try reduced the deficit slightly before Kieran Buchanan’s 47th minute effort seemingly put the Bulldogs out of sight.
Paul Crarey’s hosts showed immense fighting spirit to claw their way back to 26-18 with 10 minutes remaining – Danny Morrow and debutant Morgan Escare on the scoresheet – but a long-range intercept try minutes from the end put the game out of reach ensured the Bulldogs ran out victors after a full-blooded Championship affair.
