Barrow Raiders secured a fine victory away at high-flying York City Knights in the Betfred Championship, winning 24-16 at the LNER Community Stadium.
The Knights had lost just three times all season in the league, but the Raiders produced a fine display to pick up a hard-fought two points against James Ford’s side.
After Jarrod Sammut and Joe Brown exchanged first half tries, Ryan Shaw’s flying finish in the corner saw the Raiders go 12-6 ahead after 22 minutes.
The scoreline stayed that way until the 56th minute when Shaw added his second of the match with a jinking finish from out wide, racking up his 100th career try in the process.
Pauli Pauli and James Glover reduced the deficit to 18-16 with less than 10 minutes to go, but Sammut’s second of the game – a trademark solo effort and customary celebration – ensured Paul Crarey’s side would return to Cumbria with two competition points.
