Barrow Raiders’ final home game of the Betfred Championship season ended in disappointing fashion as they fell to a 44-10 defeat to Halifax Panthers.
Halifax maintained their play-off push, running in eight tries against an out-of-sorts Raiders.
Charlie Graham scored two of the visitors’ tries as they kept their top-six hopes in their own hands with two games to play.
Brandon Douglas and Luke Cresswell exchanged tries in the opening 10 minutes, but that was as good as it got for the Raiders in the first 40 as Halifax scored 16 unanswered points to make it 22-4 at the break.
Alex Bishop latched onto the end of his own grubber kick to bring the Raiders back to within 12 shortly early in the second half, but any hopes of a comeback were thwarted when Brad Graham went over for a try with just under an hour gone.
That marked the start of a scoring frenzy for the Panthers, with Ben Crooks and Charlie Graham going over soon after to make it three tries in seven minutes.
That took the game well beyond the Raiders’ reach, and it was Halifax who had the final say as Jacob Fairbank crashed over seven minutes from time.
The Raiders will now enjoy a bye week before finishing their season with a trip to Sheffield Eagles on Sunday 14 September. Tickets are available to buy here.
