Barrow Raiders kicked off the new Betfred Championship campaign with a resounding 38-12 victory over newly-promoted Hunslet.
The Raiders ran in a total of seven tries at the Northern Competitions Stadium, with half-back Brad Walker crossing twice and in-form winger Andrew Bulman taking his tally for the s calendar year into double figures.
An intercept try from Noah Booth saw Hunslet take an early lead against the run of play, but Paul Crarey’s side rallied with four tries as they took a commanding lead into the half-time break.
Tries from Tom Wilkinson and Luke Cresswell on his 150th appearance for the club stretched the Raiders’ advantage, with the two sides exchanging further tries in the final quarter as Bulman bagged his second of the afternoon.
It would be the boot of Walker that completed the scoring, his late penalty adding further gloss to an already-assured performance from the hosts.
Next up, the Raiders are on the road to Halifax Panthers on Sunday afternoon.
