Report: Barrow Raiders A-A Workington Town

Barrow Raiders’ pre-season friendly against local rivals Workington Town was cut short after 53 minutes due to electrical problems outside of the club’s control.

With the Raiders leading 14-4, the game was stopped early in the second half.

Unfortunately, the contest was brought to a premature halt as a result of a local power issue which blew the fuse supplying our floodlights.

Other phases in the ground were unaffected, so there was power in some parts of the ground but not to the floodlights themselves. By the time the fuse was changed, the referee had already halted the game.

The Raiders had led 10-4 at half-time thanks to first half scores from Shane Toal and Ryan Shaw.

Sean Sabutey pulled one back before the break for Workington, but a 10-point cushion was restored by Andrew Bulman shortly before the lighting issues.

Paul Crarey’s side will return to the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium next Sunday to face Super League Wigan Warriors (3:00pm kick-off).
