Barrow Raiders fell to a 38-12 defeat away at Halifax Panthers in Round 19 of the Betfred Championship on Sunday.

It was a difficult start for the Raiders who fell to a 14-0 scoreline after the hosts ran in three tries in the opening 22 minutes.

However, Paul Crarey’s side hit back when Shane Toal gambled on an interception from a 2-on-1 situation, juggling the ball and going 80 metres to get his side on the scoreboard.

With five minutes left of the first half, our two props displayed great technical ability when offloads from Jamie Pye and Tom Walker found Luke Creswell who crashed in under the sticks, sending the Raiders into the sheds at 14-12.

The Panthers would have the first say in the second half’s proceedings when Ben Tibbs scored in the right corner.

A scuffle between the two sets of players ensued after the try, with Brett Carter being sent to the sin-bin and forward Delaine Gittens-Bedward, who was on the bench at the time, was sent off for his part of the scuffle, meaning that the Raiders were forced to remove a player from the field, sending them down to 11 men.

With this advantage, the hosts scored three uncontested tries to give them a three-point lead over the Raiders in the league table, who remain in 11th place.

Barrow face another trip on the road this weekend as they make the journey to Dewsbury Rams on Sunday.
