Barrow Raiders produced another standout display on the road to defeat Widnes Vikings 37-12 in Round 6 of the Betfred Championship.
The Raiders returned to winning ways on their travels and were full value for the victory, running in six tries at the DCBL Stadium.
An assured first half display saw the Raiders punish the Vikings for a series of errors, although it took until just after the midway point of the half for outside back Luke Broadbent to produce the afternoon’s first points.
The returning Joe Bullock charged through a gap 25m from the line to stretch the Raiders’ lead, and though the Vikings reduced the arrears not long after, Curtis Teare crossed on the stroke of half-time to put the visitors 12 points in front.
Teare was involved in the Raiders’ next score, producing a vital intercept before finding Tee Ritson on halfway, the on-loan St Helens speedster doing the rest.
The Vikings responded just after the hour mark through Mike Butt in the corner, but it would prove to be their final points.
Former Viking Brad Walker extended the Raiders’ lead beyond two converted tries with a drop-goal 12 minutes from time, and there was still time for another two tries in the final few minutes.
A close-range charge over the line from Ellis Robson signalled a mass exodus from the home supporters, before Luke Cresswell supported an excellent break from Josh Wood to put the icing on the cake in the final seconds.
Victory means the Raiders sit fourth in the table heading into the upcoming Good Friday clash with London Broncos in Round 7.
