Barrow Raiders Ladies embarked on a team building weekend in Ullswater ahead of their return to action this Sunday.
The trip, organised by Raiders captain Jodie Litherland, saw members of the squad enjoy a range of water-based activities and spend quality time together, as part of preparations for Sunday’s home game against Leigh Leopards Women.
As part of the weekend’s itinerary, the players took part of kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as enjoying a sunset barbeque.
“We decided having a two week break this early into the season wasn’t ideal,” head coach Amanda Wilkinson said.

“We have had a positive few weeks training and two great performances against Bradford and Castleford – team spirit is good.
“Myself and Jodie spoke about getting some quality time together away from rugby, a time to socialise and get to know each other a little more whilst having some active fun.
“Jodie organised the camping trip and activities, and it was great to see players enjoying each other’s company and taking part in the various team tasks and challenges.
“We spent the weekend on a lovely campsite in Pooley Bridge and enjoyed the beautiful sights of Ullswater.”
Amanda Wilkinson’s side have won their last three matches and will look to extend that run of form against a Leigh side that currently sit one point clear at the top of the Betfred Women’s Super League Group 2.
On Sunday, the Raiders Ladies will also aim to avenge their 30-22 defeat at the Leopards in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup group stages earlier this year.
Sunday’s fixture, which will be a midday kick-off, takes place ahead of the men’s first team taking on Batley Bulldogs at 3pm on the same day.
“There are lots of positives to take from the camping trip, but all focus is now on Leigh at the weekend,” Wilkinson added.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game and we need the win. The players are training well, and there’s no better game to get up for.
“We will work on the little things this week in training. Tactically the players are really improving, and Leigh will be a really good test for us.
“Jodie speaks of the rivalry between the two clubs and how the players have a natural passion for the clash, so as a coach it’s about channelling that passion to maximise our performance.”
