Barrow Raiders physio Sean Riley has said that Ryan Shaw is making steady progress with his ankle ligament injury while Dan Toal will need further assessment after suffering a thigh issue.
Following a physical Good Friday encounter against Featherstone Rovers, Sean Riley expects most of the players who were involved in the clash to make a sufficient recovery for the Raiders’ trip to Halifax on Sunday.
On the long-term injuries front, Ryan Shaw, who has not featured since the defeat at home to Batley Bulldogs, is back in training following an ankle ligament injury.
“[Ryan Shaw] damaged his all three bands of the ligament in his ankle. But he is making really good progress; he is back out doing some training now.
“So hopefully, over the next two to three weeks, we should look at him being back then,” Riley added.
Additionally, Dan Toal, who was thought to have suffered a dead leg following the 18-18 draw against London Broncos last month, has undergone more assessments after further issues were found.

“Initially we treated it as a dead leg,” Riley added, “What we found with Dan was that his range of movement with his knee was not changing – he could not get it past ninety degrees.”
Following a scan, it was found that there was bleeding around his thigh area.
“There’s a lot bleeding in and around the muscles in the front of his thigh to the extent that he is booked in tomorrow to have the blood aspirated.”
Despite his prolonged absence from the pitch, Dan Toal is eager to make a quick recovery from his injury and get back into the team as soon as possible.
“Yeah it’s just frustrating to be honest, I’ve missed four games. When I first did it, I originally thought it would be a one week or two week [recovery period] with it just being a dead leg.
“This week I’ve made a bit of progress; I got a little bit further than ninety degrees. Hopefully after tomorrow when I get the blood drawn out, I can get back on the field and back to playing.”
