In pictures: 2022 season

As 2022 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on some of the best moments from the year gone by.

Here are 12 of our favourite snaps from the season!

A return to remember

The Raiders marked their return to the Betfred Championship with a 22-10 victory over Sheffield Eagles back in January!

We think Charlie Emslie enjoyed it!

Fun in the sun

The boys got down and dirty when Newcastle Thunder visited Cumbria!

It proved to be a successful afternoon for the Raiders as a 14-6 victory in February maintained the club’s winning start to the new campaign.

Impressing on the road

Who can forget March’s 34-24 victory at Widnes Vikings, in front of the Premier Sports cameras?

It certainly got the skipper’s seal of approval.

When Huddersfield Giants came to town

Ian Watson’s star-studded Super League outfit visited the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium in Round 6 of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

The Raiders gave their all on the day, winning plenty of admirers in the process, but fell just short as the Giants reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

Making history in West Yorkshire

Jarrod Sammut’s late drop-goal against former club Bradford Bulls helped the Raiders secure a superb 23-22 victory!

It was also our first win at Odsal since 1963.

Local bragging rights

The Raiders secured a home league and cup double over Cumbrian rivals Workington Town back in May.

Luke Cresswell, pictured above, was one of five try-scorers on the day.

A debut to remember

Local talent Connor Saunders enjoyed a try-scoring debut as the Raiders ran eventual champions Leigh Centurions close to the wire last June.

The young hooker, who went on to make a further three appearances in 2022, has since signed his first professional deal with the club.

Milestone for Carl Forster

Carl Forster celebrated career appearance number 200 in some style as the Raiders enjoyed an emphatic eight-try victory over Widnes Vikings.

We wish Carl all the best on his new player-coach role at North Wales Crusaders.

Cue the celebrations

When Anton Iaria’s try against Whitehaven sparked big celebrations.

Not a bad reaction to Big Tony’s third score of the season!

Positive vibes

Shane Toal brought the enthusiasm following our 30-4 victory over Bradford Bulls in July.

Summer Bash delight

It was a double triumph for the Raiders at the Betfred Championship’s annual Summer Bash.

Both our men’s and ladies’ teams ran out winners on Day 2 of the event, which took place at Leeds’ Headingley Stadium for the first time. York will host the event next year.
