Barrow Raiders welcome Dewsbury Rams to the Speed Competitions Stadium on Saturday in Round 17 of the Betfred Championship.

The hosts will be looking to build on an impressive four-match winning streak since a defeat to Oldham on May 3 – a run which includes a hard-fought victory against Sheffield Eagles last time out.

Another triumph here would see Paul Crarey’s men leapfrog Newcastle Thunder into second position in the table, ahead of their game against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday. 

As for the visitors, who sit in 10th, they will be looking to bounce back from a chastening 46-0 defeat to an in-form Widnes Vikings in their previous outing. Their recent form, however, shows great promise, having notched three wins from their last five.

The reverse fixture between the two sides at FLAIR Stadium back in March culminated in a 20-8 victory on the road for the Raiders. Having led 8-6 at the interval courtesy of Luke Cresswell and Curtis Teare, the win was sealed when Tee Ritson and Shane Toal crossed deep into the second half. Dewsbury’s last win on Barrow soil was a 42-30 championship success in May 2014.

Squad news

The 21-man squad has been named ahead of Saturday’s Round 17 fixture.

Forward Brad Singleton, who joined the Raiders on Thursday following his exit from Betfred Super League side Castleford Tigers earlier in the season, goes straight into the mix and could make his debut for his hometown club.

Paul Crarey will be without the services of outside back Matt Costello and winger Tee Ritson, who will be sidelined for the remainder of the season with an Achilles injury.

Saturday’s Betfred Championship fixture at the Speed Competitions Stadium kicks off at 6pm.

Following the conclusion of the game, there will be a Dave Day party with live music to celebrate the life of Barrow’s own Dave Myers. Supporters can purchase a combined match and Dave Day ticket, which includes a £5 donation to the Dave Day charity and entry to the post-match celebrations.
