Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey admits he was disappointed that some of his first team regulars were unable to get more minutes under their belts after Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Workington Town came to an early conclusion.
With the Raiders leading 14-4 early in the second half, electrical problems outside of the club’s control meant the action was unable to continue at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
A local power issue blew the fuse supplying our floodlights, and although the fuse was changed and the lights eventually restored, the referee had already called time on the fixture.

The Raiders had led thanks to tries from Shane Toal, Ryan Shaw and Andrew Bulman.
“It was an external fault, nothing to do with the club,” Crarey said post-match. “I’m disappointed that we didn’t carry on really.
“I just want to apologise to all the fans that have left the ground with 30 minutes to go. Normally in a friendly, that’s the most interesting part, when sides get back to full strength towards the back end of the game.
“We had Jack Wells, Sam Brooks, Josh Wood, Luke Cresswell and everyone else sitting on the bench with 20 minutes to go and we never got to see them.”

Reflecting on his side’s performance up until the game was brought to a stop, the Raiders boss added: “In the first half, I thought we were really good.
“We opened them up several times, but our execution was poor and our skill set was poor. They were full of spirit and defended really well.
“Our execution was poor and it’s something we’ve got to work on for the Wigan game, but we just didn’t get to see our starting 13 towards the end because we never got the chance to put them back on.”
