Barrow Raiders outside back Shane Toal says last week’s victory over Batley Bulldogs has left the squad in a healthy position heading into Sunday’s trip to Betfred Championship leaders York.
The Raiders visit a table-topping Knights side that have won their last 11 successive games, climbing to the summit of the table in the process.
While it promises to be a tricky assignment at the LNER Community Stadium, Toal insists his team-mates have nothing to fear heading into the Round 18 clash.
“The mood in the camp is good after the win against Batley,” he said.
“When you produce a below-par performance like we did the week before at Featherstone, you can’t wait to play again and right the wrongs.
“It was good that we were able to do that, and it was also a much-needed win to keep us in the play-offs.
“York are playing great at the moment, so we will have to be at our best from minute one on Sunday.
“Cresta will have us prepared and field a team that he thinks can go there and get the win, so that’s what we’ll be trying to do.”
It has been positive on the try-scoring front in recent weeks for Toal, who scored a hat-trick in the club’s recent 58-0 win at Hunslet and followed that up with a Man of the Match display against Batley last time out.
Having enjoyed a successful return from injury, scoring five tries in four matches in the process, the outside back is determined to retain his place in the team amidst fierce competition in the outside back department.
“It’s really good being back in the team after missing a fair few games with injury then having to be patient to get back in,” said Toal, who is currently celebrating his testimonial year with the Raiders.
“We were playing well, so I knew I’d have to wait a couple of weeks before getting a shot. I was happy that when I managed to get my chance, I performed well enough to stay in.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully keeping that going for the remainder of the season.”
