Barrow Raiders winger Shane Toal insists the squad are determined to put to an end their difficult start to the new season.
The Raiders were beaten in the opening two rounds by Toulouse Olympique and Sheffield Eagles, both at home.
Sunday sees Paul Crarey’s side take to the road for the first time in 2023 to face Swinton Lions, and Toal believes the squad will need to show drastic improvements to give themselves a shot of victory against their newly-promoted hosts.

“It’s important for us to get the first two points on the board, so no matter who we were playing we’d be wanting to get a win,” he said.
“Swinton got a great result last week though, so we will have to make sure we put in a good performance if we want to come away with points from the game.”
Despite a tough start to the season, the 27-year-old is confident that he and his team-mates can learn from the opening two rounds and ensure the same mistakes aren’t repeated.
“Although we haven’t started well, it’s important we keep a good mood in the camp,” he admitted.
GETTING TO KNOW: Greg Worthington
“It’s a long season and we don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves. We have to make sure we review the things we have done wrong and work hard on putting them right for the next game.
“There needs to be a focus on completing more of our sets to ensure we don’t let games slip away from us.
“I’m confident that if we can start playing to our potential, then we can definitely turn things around. We’ve not had the best start, but we have the personnel to put it right.”
